ACT 1: Women’s Lacrosse vs. #2 Northwestern

Maryland clinches a share of the Big Ten Title with a 15-9 win over the Wildcats

Hannah Leubecker and Shannon Smith opened the scoring, giving Maryland an early 2-0 advantage in the first five minutes.

Northwestern kept the game close, clinging to a 4-3 deficit at the end of one. Libby May netted two goals in the first quarter.

The Terps went on a 4-0 run starting with May's second goal. Victoria Hensh, Kate Sites and Grace Griffin kicked off the second quarter with goals as Maryland jumped out to a 7-3 lead.

Libby May added two more goals later in the second quarter as Maryland took a 10-5 lead to halftime.

Maryland's offense kept rolling in the third quarter, with goals from Grace Griffin, Eloise Clevenger and two more from Libby May.

Goalkeeper Emily Sterling set a career high with 16 saves as the Maryland defense held Northwestern (13-3, 5-1 Big Ten) to its fewest goals since March 6 as the Wildcats snapped a nine-game win streak.

The crowd of 2,123 is the biggest at the Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex since 2018. That was a March 24 contest against James Madison that drew 2,361 to The 'Plex.

ACT #2 : The Rivalry: Men's Lacrosse at Johns Hopkins

Terps clinch outright Big Ten Title in dominant win over the Blue Jays, 22-7, the fourth straight win over Johns Hopkins

Maryland raced out to a 4-0 lead in the opening 3:29 of the game thanks to goals by Long, Murphy, Roman Puglise and Khan. DeMaio and Jack Koras added goals late in the first quarter to make it 6-1 after the first 15 minutes.

The second quarter was more of the same Khan, Murphy, Wisnauksas (twice), DeMaio and Wierman scored as Maryland led 12-4 at halftime.

Maryland extended its streak of consecutive games of posting at least a five-goal run with 11 goals in a row, bridging the second and third quarters as Wisnauskas scored three goals in the run. Eric Malever and Murphy also scored to make it 16-4 Maryland, 3:19 into the second half. Long, Murphy, Jonathan Donville, Khan (two) and Wisnauskas scored to finish a 10-0 quarter. Maryland also scored 10 goals in the second quarter against Loyola earlier this year and 11 vs. Albany to lead 11-0 on March 12. The Terps led 22-4 after three quarters.

Between the pipes, Logan McNaney had 11 saves, his sixth games this season with double-figure saves. The Terps' defense was stellar all game. Maryland held Hopkins without a goal for a span of (3:30+15) from the second to the fourth quarter.
